I was standing in the Wood Between The Worlds
Wondering which pool to step into next
I had just come from ancient Babylon
Where I helped them invent written text
I thought I might visit the Vikings then
And teach them to forge carbon steel
Or see if folks around the Black Lake
Had up and discovered the wheel
In the Wood Between The Worlds
You can step into anywhere
Into a different place you’re hurled
It’s the magic forest to everywhere
I was looking in on the Basque whalers
In fourteenth century Labrador
A band of murdering Beothuk
Had me scurrying for the door
As long as you remember where you got in
The cave, or the closet or nook
You’re good to get back to the Wood Between The Worlds
You just have to know where to look
The Irish monks in Illinois
Teaching the Indians to build mounds
The Fair Isle of Atlantis
Nowhere is out of bounds
Not only worlds remembered
But worlds never heard of yet
Step in a pool and discover a place
Where Einstein and Newton just met
In the Wood Between The Worlds
You can step into anywhere
Into a different place you’re hurled
It’s the magic forest to everywhere
