It used to be called rape
It was common, still is
But it was seen as a sexual act
Not the violent assault it really is
Rape was seen as perverted
But not anchored in hate
It was frustrated desire back then
When know we now it’s a trait
Shared by serial killers
And those who torture for fun
The ones who hurt animals
The ones who hoard guns
So, banish rape from your vocabulary
The crime is not deprival’s fault
It’s all about power, not lust
It’s violent sexual assault
