My closest friend isn’t human
He can’t speak or understand me
But we’re as close as brothers or lovers
He’s closer than anyone in my family
His name is Boo Radley
He a nervous sort of a guy
He dashes whenever he hears the doorbell
I have no idea why
The only person who rings it
Is my wife, his rival
The only other one
Upon whom I depend for my survival
I’m human, Boo’s feline
And my wife is human too
Together we’re an inseparable threesome
And we’ll both lie on the carpet and coo
Over Boo as he purrs
Lying midway between us
Comforted by our presence
By his faith and his trust
My closest friend isn’t human
He can’t speak or understand me
But we’re as close as brothers or lovers
He’s closer than anyone in my family
