I’m a latter day adventurer
Off to see the elephant
I want to see the west
But not out of my element

So I’ll take the front cabin west
In a travel pod designed for one
With a flight attendant all my own
And dinner served with a nice warm bun

China dishes, good wine
Linen napkins, two or three
A washroom just for us
And a complete set of cutlery

This is no prairie schooner
Priority boarding, carry on galore
Champagne to greet you and a hot towel
The list runs to even more

Air Canada may be boring
It may serve grudgingly at best
But when you can afford front cabin
Their service meets the international test

The attendants are more chipper
Nicer to you, as well
The booze will flow freely
As long as you don’t yell

From the comfort of my pod
I see the midriff of Canada slip by
Thunder Bay, Winnipeg, Biggar
And the mountains draw nigh

You first hit the Rockies in mid afternoon
When the shadows from the peaks are long
The snowfields in the summer
Keep the green forest strong

You see the inhabited valleys
The tiny towns up long tracks
The long mountain lakes
Under crowned mountain stacks

The Fraser Valley opens up below
The crowded farms, fruit and truck
To the south Mount Baker rises high
Ready once more to run amok

To the north, Grouse and Seymour
Shadow the most western city of all
As you descend into YVR
And make Vancouver your port of call

I’m a latter day adventurer
Off to see the elephant
I want to see the west
But not out of my element

So I’ll take the front cabin west
In a travel pod designed for one
With a flight attendant all my own
And dinner served with a nice warm bun
